The Prada brand was created in Milan in 1913, by Mario Prada. His leather goods shop traded steadily until the 1970s when his granddaughter, Miuccia Prada took over. She revolutionised the brand, using her background in political science to bring new influences into the aesthetics. She started with backpacks and totes, followed by a ready to wear clothing line in 1987. 1999 saw the introduction of the first luxury eyewear collection.
Prada has since become a multinational company at the forefront of the luxury goods market. The abstract influences used in each collection constantly redefine what is deemed on trend and stylish. The eyewear line combines components from the handbags as well as shapes and details from the clothing line. They also produce a sports range with more practical wrap around styles.
